Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Without Martha, Mary wouldn't have an encounter with Jesus. Martha invites Jesus into her home. If it wasn't for Martha's courage to invite Jesus, Mary would not meet with Jesus.
Without a church in this community, people will never encounter the love of God.
Generations Youth plug. Energy. Without a youth group, young people will never know the love of God.
Without the breakfast club.
(If you're on facebook right now, get off your phone!)
All of those things matter, create a place and an atmosphere where people can encounter Jesus.
Our giving causes that to happen.
Recap: Acts 17:26. God determined the pre appointed times (seasons) and the boundaries of their dwellings. We could've been born in the 1800's, but God knew your time and place, that's why he put you here in this place. God has determined everything about your life.
So tithing is a matter of trust, not of obligation.
Lev 27, Heb 8:7 (melkizideck receives the offering), Gen, Psalm 24, 50 (every beast is yours), 89, 1Chr 29:10
We have given what we have given, but it is from God anyway. Everything is God's. He wants it first. Never second.
Get how big God is, so we can trust him. You won't struggle with finances, generosity.
Steward is one who is charged with the responsibility of managing what's given to him by the owner.
Tithing example. The church is the bride of Christ. Everything is God's but he entrusts us with stuff.
Malachi - bring the full amount of the tithes into the storehouse, so that God can open the windows of heaven.
If we are faithful, God will bless us even more. If God can trust us with little, then he will trust us with much.
Luke 16:9,10. When I have another car, then I will give one away. The thing about faith, is that it doesn't work like that.
Give out of obedience, not out of abundance.
Without our giving, we don't have a building. Taking ground, planting the flag.
Matt 25:34-40. The day we have to give an account of how good stewards we were.

34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ (ESV)
