Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Up close and personal - Tabernacle. Recap - brazen altar
Today - Laver. Talks about the word of God.
John 1:1-5 - the word of God. vs 12-14. As many as received him, gave the right to become children of God. You were born because of the will of God. Our position as children of God. God wants to remind you today that we're not just his followers, we are his children. Family connect. In relationship with God - he is our Father, we are his child. We can belong in the family of God. His character is going to be formed in you. God willed for your life to be!
Heb 9:11-13. Jesus is a picture of the tabernacle. Jesus became flesh and dwelt amongst us.
Story how the priests went into the holy of holies once a year. Rope around ankle, scarlet threat. Jesus is our high priest!
We are people who live and exist for eternity. Everything that God has promised us is available to us now.
vs 15. The tabernacle is a copy of what God does in heaven. What happens here gives an insight into what happens in heaven.
Ex 30:17-20. Laver. for washing. reflection. Polished brass, reflected like a mirror. When the priest came to wash, what they would see was their reflection, to see where to wash. Laver speaks of God's word to wash, and serves as a mirror to reflect.
Titus 3:3-5. Washing. God says I need you to come every day to my word, need you to wash, need you to be clean. Be positioned in the word of God. Changes the way that we think. We know what the word of God says, but sometimes we avoid it because we know it will wash away stuff. But, if we want to come to God, we have to wash first. Transforming power of God in our lives.
Eph 5:24-26. Sanctified by the washing of water by the word. Allow Gods word to wash us! God's word is not about a lot of rules, it's actually liberating, bringing freedom and help.
James 1:23-25. Don't be just a hearer of the word, but a doer of the word.

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (KJV)
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (KJV)
11But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (KJV)
23It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. (KJV)
17And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 18Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. 19For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: 20When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD: (KJV)
3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (KJV)
24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, (KJV)
23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. (KJV)
