Tabernacle - Up Close and Personal
creating a meeting place. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Come close to God even when we're tired. Holiday season, but don't take a break from God. God is intently passionate about us. Talked about the doorway of the tabernacle - Jesus. Levitical idiom. White curtains = righteousness.
*Religion tries to change from the outside in, but God changes us from the inside out.* God starts with the Holy Place. 10 chapters set aside for the tabernacle, only 3 chapters for creation. Everything that is made has a meaning, has a reason.
Ark of the covenant, Aaron's rod. Out of the holy of holies through the veil. In the Holy of Holies is where God's presence would come. Burn incense. Prayers of the saints like incense. Into the Holy Place, see table of shewbread - 6 loaves on two sides, 12 tribes of Israel = fellowship. Menora - lamp stand with 7 candles filled with oil - gives light to the holy place. The wicks are from the priests robes.
The value of the gold in the temple = $20million. Menora itself made out of pure gold worth over $1million.
The brazen altar = the cross.
The bronze laver = the word of God, baptism. Where the priest would come to wash
Planks of acacia wood, covered with gold inside. God places value on his presence on the inside.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Dwelt = tabernacle.
Middle of exodus, story of the golden calf. Sometimes when we're going through the desert places, Egypt looks inviting. Sometimes we come to a place in our Christian experience where God is not enough. Israelites, always looking back on what they missed out on. When God is leading you, sometimes it's not easy, sometimes it's really hard and dry. Know that God says "just follow me and I will lead you, add to your life and not take away". The moment you feel you want to turn and rebel, that's the moment you can have an encounter with God. There's always a calf ready to worship, but we can choose to have an encounter with God instead.
1 Peter 1:19-20. with the precious blood of Christ ... manifest in these last times for you. God's plan before he created anything, was the cross to save us. The tabernacle is a shadow, a plan, a template for the things to come. God chose Jesus as a ransom long before the world began.
The tent of meeting. In the Holy place, the walls were higher, but the gates were narrower. Harder to get in, but there's a cost. From the outside did not look appealing - badger skins, goats/rams hair on the outside. Jesus wasn't attractive, but what was on the inside was amazing. Be a people to look beyond the outside appearance.
John 1:12 - gives us the power and right to become sons of God.
Exodus 26. Curtains. woven linen = white. Add blue purple and scarlet threat. Walking into the holy place pictures of cherubim on the ceiling. God is particular
God has built you to a blueprint, taken care to do that, because he wanted to house his spirit in you. You are well thought out. Despite whatever you feel, God still chose you to be the place where His Spirit resides. Don't feel that you are no good, don't listen to the lie, that your insecurity speaks louder than God to you. You are not an outcast. God chooses you!
vs 7. Curtains of goats hair.
vs 14. Covering of rams skins and badger skins.
Fine linen vs 1
Goats hair. Goats were a sin offering.
Ram skins, died red. Substitutionary death of Jesus. Whatever God has promised you, God is able to resurrect that again. Not matter what has happened, he is able to bring that to life again. He can cause that thing to arise. We quit too soon on God, don't see the miracle of God, but God wants us to trust him, that's where our faith is. Run into all that God has for you. Never quit on God - he never quit on you.
Jesus is our substitute, takes our place on the cross. He became a scapegoat for us. He became the sacrifice for our sins. Makes a way of escape for us, if we choose to put our trust and faith in God.
Badger Ez 16:10. For 40 years they wandered in the wilderness, and their clothes never wore out. Kept and provided for us. Badger skins = complete provision of God able to keep and sustain us.
Deut 8:4
Nehemiah 9:20-21
Fine linen. Crimson = earth, blood. Blue = heavens. Scarlet = royalty. White = righteousness. Not only is God divine, but made us clean.
