Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Acts 2:2-8 - God is going to bring a "suddenly" moment, breathe life into our spirit so we can do what He has called us to do.
Anointing of the Holy Spirit is missional. Heart for outreach. God is bringing the nations to us.
God is calling us to wait. The power is the overflow of what happens when we wait on God. The power isn't the focus, the waiting on God is.
God is a still small voice. Sometimes we are far from God. **The reason that God whispers is because he wants us to be close.** He can shout out to us, but we won't draw near.
Where are you situated with God right now? We can live at a distance, but we're missing out. God in the midst of ... I call to you. Scripture passages during the week - Jeremiah 33:3
Isa 40:28-31. Creator of the heaven and earth neither faints nor is weary. If you are weary or going to faint, come to the source - God - take time to wait in his presence.
Example - waiting on God. It's not a surprise to God when we faint and grow weary. He's drawing us to the source.
vs 31. They who wait on The Lord will renew their strength.
Example: changing nappy, spoon feed.
When we become people who just come to church, get nappy changed, and be like "feed me!" - if that's the only thing I eat, how do you think I'd grow?
"I'm not being fed here"... we're grownups. Will set a table to be here on Sunday, but can't feed you during the week. Not an issue of being fed here on Sunday - not eating at home.
God is calling us to himself, not for us to go to church.
Don't neglect the gathering of the saints. Don't become a consumer church. We're not "Kidults". Change your own nappy! In this season, important that we get the waiting on God part right!
God's word changes us.
We're the church. If the church is not doing anything, then we're not doing anything. If we're not getting into worship, then the church is not getting into worship.
God is drawing us to a place. We need to connect to God, get to the source of power. Let God download into your spirit.
John 5: 1-3. Bethesda = "place of out pouring". Waiting for the moving of the water. God wants us to wait. On the other side of our waiting are the people waiting for the touch of God.

2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? (KJV)
28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)
1After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. (KJV)
19Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. (KJV)
