Clinton Phillips, October 30, 2016
Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Introduction - Turn our Light On.
2 Cor 3:16,17. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Cor 4:1-4. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers. The ministry of Jesus Christ in you is to open blind eyes.
vs5,6 - we do not preach ourselves.
vs 7 - But we have this treasure in jars of clay.
vs 8,9 - we are hard pressed but not crushed. Because we have the glory of Jesus inside of us! Perplexed but not in despair. We might not understand, but we don't become discouraged.
vs 10 - we carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our body. This is what you carry inside of you - life and light of Jesus - let it shine out of you. LIfe comes out. Authority. So that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our body.
Luke 4:17-21. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me ... Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.
Five foundational ministries of Jesus
Spirit of the Lord is upon me. We can't make it without the Holy Spirit. Seek Spirit of God fill me.
Speak about salvation. To preach the gospel
Emotional and internal healing - heal the broken hearted. There's a counterfeit that preys on that, so that we live on the outside of the inheritance.
Physical healing - sight to the blind.
Deliverance - to set free those who are oppressed. The word is "bruised". Bleeding under the skin. If you saw a broken leg you'd see it. Life comes and presses on it.
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
Broken hearted, something that's smashed and shattered. Crushed, trampled on, grind down, smashed to pieces. Jesus anointing has come to heal that.
Numbers 14:34. You shall know my rejection. When our heart is broken, this thing of rejection is birthed in our life. We were born rejected, born in sin. Sin and God cannot co-exist. His design is for us to be in his image, but sin stepped in the way. We are susceptible to rejection. Rejection is not just an emotion, but it allows there to be a stronghold in our lives. Like a bruise - if it looks like, smells like rejection, it sends you into hurt. Jesus says I am anointed to bring healing.
Hosea 8:2,3. Israel has rejected the good; the enemy will pursue him. Every time Israel rejected God, God turned them over to the enemy. He's big enough to bring them through, but he turned them over. Why? We need to understand his purpose
1 Sam 19:9,10. Talking about David. Saul had rejected God's way of doing the sacrifice, Samuel speaks to Saul and says "God has rejected you". Anything that resembled God, Saul wanted to nail to the wall with a spear. He's not the favourite anymore, all this anger and rage began to build.
Look at a stronghold - anger. When a stronghold takes place, there's anger. Not personality disorders, talking about a spirit. Jesus says he is anointed to heal the broken hearted. Insecurity when there's a stronghold. Need of attention, need to be reognised. Pride. We have to show people that we have it all together. Independance. Don't need anyone, someone who's difficult to build relationship with. Keep people at a distance. Look back in your life - where did brokenheartedness come? Easily offended. Takes everything personally. Excessive shyness. Control and manipulation. Interrupt a lot. Turn it back on someone else. If I can control you, then you can't hurt me - protective mechanism. Maybe my heart is broken, but I've built these layers up around me. We know how to exist, we know how to live, but Jesus has come to heal the broken hearted. Self pity.
Matt 18:32-35. How does a bruise look? "I forgave you because you begged me. Should you not have also showed compassion on others". So my heavenly father will also do to you if you do not forgive your brother's trespassers. Note "delivered him to his tourturers".
1 Cor 5:5 delivered to Satan. Then ch 11, repented, then restore him. Would God really send me to the touturers if we don't forgive?
Psalm 107:10-12. Because they rebelled against the words of God ... Threrefore he brought down their heart with sorrow, labour, pain.
vs 13 Then they cried out to the Lord, and he saved them out of them distress. God would be that mean, so that we will say "we need to repent, so that he will deliver me". The enemy comes as a counterfeit. The Holy Spirit is our comforter, but when our heart is broken, the enemy comes as an angel of light. We give the enemy authority when we agree with him. We can pass the blame, but God wants you to know that he has come to heal the broken hearted. The enemy is stealing from your life.
