Part of the Christ in me series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Christ Lives in Me
Introduction - "line in the sand" service. Not about numbers, about impacting lives. Looking forward to 2017.
Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. Our identity is because of Christ in us. My ego is no longer central (The Msg) I am going to do life knowing that Jesus Christ lives in me - watch out how I live!
Gal 2:1- Story of apostle Paul, history and back story. God is calling out to us "Come aside to me, and let me download into your life". Paul 14 years out of the loop, encounter with Jesus, goes to Jerusalem with Barnabas (son of encouragement). We can become people who are encouraging. TItus was loved by Paul. A remarkable man. We have remarkable people in our church! Remarkable when we shift mindsets and change culture.
Paul wants to tell the church something remarkable happening - light of Jesus reaches the Gentiles, and start to experience salvation, receive the Holy Spirit. This is not just for us - it's for everyone! God is saying "this is what I'm going to do in your life".
Vs 11-16. Confrontation between Peter and Paul. People revered Peter as one of the close crew. It's important who speaks into your world, and who you listen to. What you listen to, you begin to follow. Barnabas was getting distracted by Peter.
Justification comes by faith in Christ. Not just a mental assent, but saying "God I trust you with my life". The beautiful exchange. There's' nothing in me that will make me live to the level that God requires. But Jesus living in me brings me into right relationship with God. I am not justified by my actions, I am justified by my faith in Jesus.
Vs 17-18. Do you think that you can be a person who continues to sin? No! That's not the deal - that's not what Christ's salvation is for. Christ has made me righteous, turns me around, so that we can overcome sin! LIke building bridge that we try to build to please God, vs highway that God builds for us. Pursue God on his highway! So that it's no longer I that lives, but Christ in me.
Vs 19-20. I have been crucified with Christ. How does that work? Put my selfishness and every part of me on the Cross, so that I live for Christ.
