Part of the Christ in me series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Let's Go Over! #letsgoover
Gal 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ ... The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God.
Story - Mrs Musson. Mr Hancock. The Law is a bit like a teacher. It would tell you when you did things right, and when you did things wrong. But grace takes time to spend with us, not to fail us, but to help us succeed. The Law is not bad. Eg Matt 5:17 Jesus didn't come to destroy the law.
Gal 3:25.
James 1:22 Don't just listen to the word, but do what it says. Anyone who listens but doesn't do what he says is like a man who looks at himself in the mirror, and when he goes away forgets what he looks like. The Law gives freedom. Boundaries, mindset on how we should live. Eg Law says don't steal - gives a boundary - God's parameters. It hurts the person you steal from. It harms your life when you get caught.
The Law hinges on these two: Love God, and love your neighbour as yourself. Grace empowers us to live a life according to the law. Live within God's parameters - he will bless that.
There is a way that we choose to live, that will be an adventure. There will be times of trudging through the sand, but also excitement that God has brought you though stuff. Story of Jubilee conference with preacher from Uganda, birth of Perth4Jesus. Story of Love Langford. There is an adventure in God.
Story of Paul: Damascus encounter with God, stoned, shipwrecked, etc. If Paul said "I've done my dash, and just attend church, become just a consumer", never have achieved.
Gospel in America has become a watered down version of the American dream. But the gospel is an adventure. Not just "I need you", but a Christ-centered life.
Would you pursue him with no limits?
Col 2:13-14 Even though we were dead in our transgressions, we were made alive in Christ. You are not alone - you have been made alive in Christ. You may be jaded by church or people, but you are alive in Christ. God's word is not a liar. A God who is rich in mercy has made you alive in Christ Jesus.
Jesus sits at the right hand of the father, making intercession for us!
2 Kings 6:24-33. "This disaster is from the Lord; why should we wait any longer?" Does this story speak to our life and our situation?
2 Kings 7:1 "Elijah says 'hear the word of the Lord'..." If the word of the Lord came to us, would we really listen? Or would our doubts or our history come and drown out those words?
Challenge to be positioned, so even if there is nothing left, you are ready to receive God's word.
Vs 4: if we go into the city we die, if we stay we die, if we go we may die or they may spare us - let's go over! In that once sentence, one phrase, shows us a different perspective. Don't have a "City" mindset. Have a spirit and a heart to hear the word of God. As they go over, God brings breakthrough, and deliverance.
