Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Introduction - The value of who you are. Whatever you’re willing to pay for something is the value of that thing. God gave his son for us - that’s how much He loves us! You are a child of God, loved by God.
2 Chronicles 20:26
When Jesus was born, the heavens erupted with praise. The gift of God is to add to your live. Jesus comes to give, not to take away. The truth of God is that there’s a lot more do’s than dont’s. It’s a life lived with fulness. Mary and Joseph weren’t the richest of people. People go to the temple to give offering, two doves if they were not rich, indication of how wealthy they were.
Prophecy: Men: Something significant in your praise. God you’re good - give thanks to the Lord for his love endures forever. In the midst of the battle. See the context - these guys were surrounded. When they left Egypt, they defeated city after city until they reached a particular city, and God told them to go around them. Now that city was coming against us. God why did you let that happen? When it’s so overwhelming that we can’t see the end, not so much what God is doing, but how we respond in that situation. When there is opposition to our lives, that our praise is one of the first things to go! We don’t want to! But God gives us that key, when the Messiah was born, it was surrounded by praise. The things in your life, be surrounded by praise. To keep stressing out in this seaon, surround it with praise. When we are stressed and tired, we can miss the opportunity to connect with God through praise. Take a moment to pray - God you are good, your grace and mercy endures forever. You’re calling your spirit into line with God. Our emotions are telling us to be quiet, but we need to get our spirit to be in line with God - run into God’s presence. Corporate worship is a breakthrough for this country. There is power in what we did today.
God is inviting us to a place where we believe. Unbelief is ruling in your heart because certain things haven’t come to pass.
Luke 1:5-20. Zecharaiah and Elizabeth. Burning insence, a metaphor for prayer. Angel of God appeared. Have a son, name him John, spirit of Elijah, turns the hearts of the fathers to their children.
God is a god who is able to restore. Physically and spiritually. An umet prayer. Hope deferred makes the heart sick.
For 400 years, no-one had heard from God. Zechariah serving in the church. There is a moment of encounter that God wants with you. There has been hope deferred. Don’t shut God out! Don’t stop serving God. Christians are bad at being bad. But God made this commitment to you - I will never leave you or forsake you. Made covenant and agreement with you.
Vs 18. How can I be sure of this? I am an old man. Angel answered I am Gabriel, I stand in the presence of God - you will now be silent and unable to speak, because you did not believe my words.
Contrast with Mary
Luke 1:26-28. In the sixth month, God sent Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee - where all the gentiles lived, the un-illuminated ones. Appeared to Mary: highly favoured. Because of God’s word, not about the angel, but about the word of God. “I need you to go to Langford, and tell them this: greetings, you are highly favoured. The Lord is with you!”. The same greeting would be extended to everyone of us today. Mary is about to go through a massive trial, really testing. God says “I am with you”.
Vs 30. Mary - don’t be afraid. God is breaking off fear. When God’s spirit comes in, a spirit of love casts out fear. Throws it out.
Vs 31. Jesus - Joshua in the OT - God who saves. In the NT, his name will be Jesus. God is saying “I am”, I am the God who saves. He wants to step into your world today, be birthed inside of you - Jesus Christ, the God who saves you.
Mary - the Holy Spirit will come apon you, and you will conceive a son. Today the spirit of God is saying “I want to break fear in your life, that hold”. Peace and love of God that removes it from your life.
