Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Introduction - Christmas, not because of what’s happening around us, but because of what has happened. The Christmas story - he’s for you! Complicated families, or no families. God is for you this Christmas time. Tension of Christmas - time really flies! No more time. 2 sleeps until Christmas comes.
A God who has made everything - the streets are made of gold in heaven - his one and only Son is born to Mary and Joseph. Emmauel - God is with us - we’re not alone this Christmas time.
Book of John. Last writer of the gospel, now reflecting and looking back over his life. Writing the book of John.
John 1:1-7. In the beginning. John says we saw him come as a baby, but he was before time even began. He was present with God. All things were made and came into existence through him. God is giving us a perspective of Jesus Christ. God spoke the word - Jesus is the word, God spoke Jesus. Let there be light - you who is light shine forth. Light, shine!
Psalm 27 - the Lord is my light and my salvation. David knew what it was to ride the rollercoaster of emotions. The Lord is my light - it doesn’t matter what’s coming against me, but who is for me! There is more to your life than what is going on around you.
vs 3,4. In Him was life. You are here because of the creation of God. Even before time He knew you. Your worth to God is that he knows you. God knows you - when you get up, go out, come in.
Vs 5. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness could not overpower it.
John was around Jesus, experienced so many things - John summed up God in one word - God is love. After seeing everything Jesus did, more than what he does, God loves you - God is love.
Nero, general, slaughter over a million Jews. After John saw all that, looking back, says Jesus Christ is life, and his life is the light of all men.
We can learn from John today.
John 20:30. There are many other signs Jesus performed.
Vs 31 These have been written so that you may believe and have life in his name. This Jesus is the one who can give life.
Gentiles, unenlightened ones, not that they weren’t smart, but that they didn’t know Jesus. Jesus asked John to bring these gentiles into the light. That’s our mission - to do the same.
