Ps Sheldon Phillips 25th December 2018 ()

Sheldon Phillips, December 25, 2018
Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Special event service

Hebrews 2:10-15.
Intro: The impact of this moment for your life
God is actively engaged in the human story. Sometimes we feel like God isn’t interested, but God is actively, passionately involved in our story. Seeking out a way to get involved in your story. God of the universe decided to put on flesh and blood to become a part of our story. God came - he took on all of humanity.
Jesus had a nappy! He had to learn to walk and talk. Your story is wrapped up in this! Whatever you’re facing in your life, God is passionately and actively involved in your life. God is IN - your mess, your drama. We might not be willing to roll up our sleeves and get dirty, but God is!
Christmas is God acting, to bring family together
Vs 11. Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. Christmas is for you and I to understand that God wants to draw us together in family. We belong! We are brothers and sisters in Christ - we are family. We belong to God because we are his sons and daughters. You belong. You have a place. You are loved.
John 3:1 How great is the love that the Father has lavished on us, that we are call the child of God.
John 4:9 This is how God showed his love for us. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us.
Heb 2:14. Jesus came so that he could die. So that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death. God came to destroy the devil and his work in the world of humanity. The devil has been ruining people’s lives, trying to pull us off the way of the father. God sent Jesus to die to break the power of the devil.
