Part of the Shift series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Introduction: abundance of rain. God has set an agenda this year, it’s all about His word. The vital importance for us as Christians, not just to know the bible, but to know the word of God. God is going to shift our hearts and minds, eyes and ears, to hear his voice - speak directly. About to rain on things that are dry.
Hebrews 10:35. Context, Christ’s sacrifice is the “once for all” offering. Took all my sin, all my shame, all my guilt. There’s more! He took the judgement of God. The wages of sin is death, eternal separation of God. The judgement of God is appeased because of Jesus.
Vs 35-37 do not throw away your confidence, because you will be rewarded. He who is coming will come and will not delay. There are people who don’t know the love of Christ, and we’re going to do everything in our power to make sure they know!
Vs 38. My righteous one will live by faith. We have a relationship with the most high God. We can come to him any time! In the OT times we couldn’t do that. Do you realise the access that we have?
Vs 39. We are not those who shrink back - don’t shrink back from God because we know that we are saved! He has brought us into his kingdom.
Note vs 19. Therefore brothers, since we have confidence - the call to persevere - enter the most holy place, through the blood of Jesus, and we have a great priest, draw near to God. Hearts sprinkled. Your confidence is not your willpower to make it through. Jesus did so much to buy you a free pass into the presence of God. 2019 is the year we are not spectators watching a priest enter the holy of holies instead of us. Confidence is based on the blood of Jesus and not our abilities.
We treat this so flippantly! Don’t mess with a holy God. Two judgements: One, is your name in the Lambs Book of life? Two, since you knew Jesus Christ, what did you do with Jesus? Were you in relationship? Going to church doesn’t make you a christian. Christ-like - hear his voice and follow him.
Consider your relationship with God.
1 Kings 18:1 After a long time - go present yourself to Ahab and I will send rain on the land. An appointed time.
Vs 2 the famine was severe. Picture of river bed. I will send rain. Three years without rain. Dry, no life, nothing. Cracked. God is saying I’m about to send rain into your life. The word of the Lord came to Elijah. God says to you “I’m about to shift the dryness in your life. Rain will come”. We are not alone in the time of our season right now, God is control. Whether we are in lack or plenty, something is about to shift in our lives.
Vs 40. Are you ready to present yourself to the King right now? This week we present to our King through prayer and fasting. This is the rain storm that we need to be in - run out from the building, pray would you fall apon us! We are hungry, dry, we cry out for rain - ask for rain!
Vs 41 - go eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain. God speaks something that doesn’t exist, into existence. God made by his word the world. The word of God framed our life. When God says “Rain is coming” we can trust his word. Before the foundations of the earth. I know your plans and purpose. In your mother’s womb, rain will come. “But God, it’s famine!” Heaviness and spiritual weight, how can they be free, be transformed?
Present yourself, so that we can be appealing to the people that see us. Such an outpouring of souls. Hear the sound in every area: young adults, worships, youth, men’s ministry. Fill this auditorium - because of the abundance of rain. I will send rain. Marraige. Sending rain. Reset. God is shifting us.
Vs 42 Elijah climbed to mount Carmel. We are pregnant with the purpose of God. Time to climb, metaphor of pregnancy. Shift our position, climbing up into something more that God has for us. Seek until we find Him. What are you birthing in me?
Vs 43 Go and look. There is nothing there. Go look again. Seven times Elijah says go back. We as a church are at 6 times. Go and look. Small cloud. God is about to something extraordinary, but guess how is starts? Small. Something small in the hand of God - 5 loaves and two fish. God blesses it and feeds 5 thousand. God will release something so powerful, that one will be a thousand. A small one a great nation. That’s the bigness on the inside of you. Bigger than you’ve ever experienced!
