Clinton Phillips, March 3, 2019
Part of the Arise and Build series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Introduction
Hebrews 10:39 We are not those who shrink back and are destroyed, but those who believe and are saved. Jesus has made a way for us to enter into the presence of God. Now that you are those people who know the presence of God, don’t shrink back from that call, that position. It’s about our relationship with God, where he can speak to me. Stir it up! Nothing is that important that will replace the presence of God - not facebook or instagram! #inhispresence - that’s the invitation. That moment of being a son or daughter of God, meeting with Him. Is there anything too hard for God? In the context of what we’re facing.
The chuch is so positioned, so that the world needs everything that we have - we have the answer they’re looking for and they don’t even know it. We need to be people who are stepping into everything God has because we carry the presence, truth and life of God. Don’t shrink back - run full on into God!
Heb 11:1 Now faith! Jesus says to go into all the world. Jesus is intereceding for us before the throne of God. Jesus’ prayer - That they will be one as we are one. The presence of God in our lives will be so magnetic. You are beautifully filled with the spirit of God, you can reconcile people back to God. This is the authority I’ve given you as a son/daughter - an ambassador for God. Become those representatives of God. Given us the ministry, given us the word. Able to divide truth and intentions of man’s heart. That’s what’s in the inside of us.
Faith is being sure of what we hope for. When we close our eyes and look, what do we see? What does your life look like 5 years from now? This church?
2 Cor 8:1-7. Part of arise and build, when God does a new thing, it’s beyond what we can do or think. He chose you! He will tell you what the next step is. About reaching people. About expansion. Discipleship.
Writing to the Corinthian church about the Macedonian churches. Out of the most sever trial, their overwhelming joy and extreme poverty. Trial - earthquake/famine. Seen to be an impoverished church, but there’s some overflowing joy, and their extreme poverty welled in rich generosity.
Story about Mal - Not about what I can get, but what I can give. Not about hand outs, but about stepping into that threshold, that place of the favour of God. We might look like the Macedonian church, but we’re not going to let this opportunity go by.
Faith says “If you would, you could”. You step out and God is about to provide with you significantly.
