Ps Clinton Phillips 21st March 2021 ()

Clinton Phillips, March 21, 2021
Part of the Via Dolorosa series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

John 17:3. Jesus wants to be formed in you. The purpose of Jesus dying on the cross, so that we could be restored back to our identity. We are made in the image of God. He wants to be known by you.
Phil 2:9-13 God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name. This is all part of God’s plan. in our situation it looked dire, but in God’s situation it was establishing the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus the name above every other name. John 20:30,31. Have life in his name. There is life in Jesus Christ.
If you feel stuck, that nothing’s going in or out - God is wanting to penetrate, so that the name of Jesus is life-giving, beyond your circumstance, beyond your hurt. There’s the name of Jesus, the life-giving name.
Acts 3:6 Peter says what I have I give, in the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk. God is establishing the name of Jesus. This is the name that we can use. Sometimes we just need the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ - let that be on your lips.
When life pushes on you, what comes out? What are you filling your heart with? This is the new covenant that God has with us - that he writes his law on our hearts. If we have this relationship with Jesus, God writes his law on our hearts, so when life squeezes us, what comes out? In those times of pressure, God says I am giving you the name of Jesus.
We have this name to give out. Acts 4:8-10. Peter says it’s the name of Jesus that healed them.
Col 3:17, whatever you do, do it in the name of Jesus.
This is meant for our everyday life. Applicable to everything that we face today.
Isa 53:1-5 He was pierced for our transgressions ... surely he took our pain. He took my place, took the place of sin for me.
The punishment that brought peace was upon him. Our peace has been stolen. God made that sacrifice so that I could be in that peace relationship with God.
I can’t do life without Jesus. God made a way for me, and I’ll walk in that way. Not just Sunday, but every day.
Q: Do we knock? Do we seek? Do we ask?
Isa 53:5 By his wounds we are healed. The bible is a receipt book. A receipt for our healing. Prayer bring that receipt to God, reminder of everything that has been purchased for me. Gives us access to pickup the layby that has been purchased for us.
The crown of thorns.
