Ps Clinton Phillips 15th July 2012 (Ephesians 4:13-16, Acts 2:37-47, 1 John 1:5-6, 1 John 2:9)

Clinton Phillips, July 15, 2012
Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

God wants to connect us as a church. Build us together in terms of connectedness.
Let the word of God become the thing that filters all the stuff out of our live. Like kidneys.
Dont allow life to continue to intimidate you.
3 examples:
- reins
- light globe. Don't just plug into God, be turned on to Gods word.
- mortar & pestle

God gives gifts to equip Gods people to do His work.

It's a call to grow up.

Microphone example. We can't be doing life by ourselves. Unless we plug into God we'll never reach our full potential. You can come to church and never be connected to the desk. The best way to function is in connection to others.

Too many of us quit too soon. We become transient. Immature. God wants you to grow up.

Each part works together to help the others to grow.

When life gets tough - don't quit! That's when the aroma of God comes through our life.

Ephesians 4:13-16

13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (KJV)

Acts 2:37-47

37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. (KJV)

1 John 1:5-6

5This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: (KJV)

1 John 2:9

9He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. (KJV)
