Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Gods promises to us.
"What's in it for God"?
A heads up for what's coming up: wonderful joy, also many trials.
Like school all over: each year, tests to make it to the next level. Many joys ahead.
Focus to on the joy, not on the trials. The trials show that your faith is genuine. There is going to be heat, going to get hot, burn, hurt.
God is at work in you. God is building in you the capacity to trust him, no matter what happens.
Israelites coming out of Egypt. Never acknowledged god. Never lost the old mindset.
The trial is the test, but it's not for you to turn to man. It's about trusting god. Part of growth. Purifying, more of Christ in your world.
**Who do you turn to when the pressure is on?**
We're going to face trials. The focus is allowing God to show you what it is in yourself that God wants to burn out.
Understand the power of God that is available to you when you are under trial.
Temptation is not a bad thing - it's how we respond to that. Look for the way out.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fire. Won't bow down. It's in the fire that Jesus is with us. God says to us when are in the fire, saying "I am with you". So we are to turning in the face of opposition. Gods power is unlimited!
Can you trust God? Even when you are surrounded. Even when the enemy pours in. Even when the diagnosis is bad.
God is wanting to teach us to trust him.
Trust is like a weld, fused together by heat.
Don't quit the process! Be a person that trusts God.
Trust with your whole heart. If god gives you a word, don't change it just because your circumstances don't fit it. When he speaks to you, he has the end in mind.
Can you trust god in the war?
The Lord is my banner. Calls us for a cause.
Hold up the leaders hands. Bring deliverance. Leader brings victory.
Enemy takes us out through offence. The open one who suffers is you. Offence comes from the word scandalon. A trap.
Understand the strategic plan of the enemy.
Gods plan: buy gold refined in fire.

1 Peter 1:3-7
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (KJV)
7And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not? 8Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. 10So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. 14And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. 15And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi: 16For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. (KJV)
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV)
18I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. (KJV)
